Skincare FAQs

What kind of facials do you do?

I offer treatments using Dermalogica products- the 60 Minute Facial as well as NanoInfusion Treatments. Each facial is customized to your individual skincare needs.  Dry and dehydrated, oily and acneic, aging, and normal skin types are all welcome in my treatment room.  Before your treatment begins, I do a quick analysis of your skin to determine which products would best suit you.  From there, your face is steamed while we double cleanse and exfoliate before preparing for pore-clearing extractions.  Extractions are performed as necessary to remove impactions.  Then a masque is applied- either a skin quenching moisture drink, an oil-absorbing clay, or an anti-aging antioxidant cream.  A warm stone eye mask is the cherry on top as you drift off for 10 minutes during a neck and shoulder or hand and arm massage.  To finish off your facial, we apply a serum suitable for your skin type, spf and moisturizer.

NanoInfusion treatments are an advanced service that targets uneven texture, fine lines, dehydration, and congestion/breakouts with no downtime!

How should I prepare for my facial?

Drinking lots of water is always good for your skin, but especially before and after your facial.  If you use any prescription skin creams, please consult with your doctor before booking your facial. Certain topical creams like retinol  (vitamin A),  tretinoin, or hydroxy acids should be stopped  1-2 weeks before your facial.  Please let me know if you are on any prescription topical creams or skin-thinning medications like Accutane.

It's best to come to your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin but I do remove makeup as part of the service so no worries if you're coming right from work or a day out!

Lastly, please don't plan a day out in the sun on the same day as your facial.  Freshly exfoliated and manipulated skin is extra sensitive to UV rays, so keep yourself protected! Remember to make spf a part of your daily skin care routine.

I have rosacea- can I still get a facial?

Yes! Although we will do a few tweaks.  Skin with rosacea is extra sensitive, so steam will be omitted.  Extractions may also be omitted and can be replaced with a light pressure point massage.
